The idea for this project originated from discussions with my wife, Dr Jemima Rillera Kempster, who was seeking a more efficient way to manage and automate assessment feedback.

Through collaboration with fellow educators, we developed this web application to simplify the feedback process, save time, and enhance the overall user experience for teaching staff.

Project Purpose

The primary goal of this project was to create a rubric-based feedback system that automates repetitive assessment tasks while ensuring that teachers remain in control of the final feedback comments. A key requirement was to provide Course Coordinators with the ability to customise marking feedback responses to suit the needs of individual courses and units. The application also includes a library of example templates, enabling educators to quickly create and implement consistent student feedback to assessment pieces without sounding like a machine.

Future Development

Now rebranded as Marking Assessment Assistant (MA2) © 2026, the next generation of the application will introduce several new features and enhancements:
